Our Windows screensaver works on Windows 95 and beyond, including Windows XP. Though we have taken care developing and testing the NRDC BioGems screensaver, we cannot take responsibility for or resolve problems that occur as a result of installing this software. Please be sure you have adequate system resources before installing the screensaver.

Instructions

1. First download the screensaver installer file (biogemsinstaller.exe, 2.3 MB). Click here to begin. You'll be prompted to save this file to your hard disk. Select any location to store your file and make note of where you put it.
2. Next, you'll install your new screensaver. Just locate the file that you downloaded (called biogemsinstaller.exe) and double click on it. When the dialog box appears, click "install." Once the screensaver is installed, a dialog box will ask if you would like to open the screen saver control panel. Click "yes" if you want to view or adjust your settings; otherwise click "no." The BioGems screensaver is now your working screensaver.
3. To change or modify your screensavers, go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Display and select the Screen Saver tab. Choose your preferred screensaver by name from the pulldown menu (or choose "none") and preview or modify your settings.
4. To remove the screensaver, find and delete both the file you downloaded (biogemsinstaller.exe) and the directory and its contents that were unpacked when you installed the screensaver (biogems2006 dir).

For Macintosh
Our Macintosh screensavers work with OS 8 through OS X. Though we have taken care developing and testing the NRDC BioGems screensaver, we cannot take responsibility for or resolve problems that occur as a result of installing this software. Please be sure you have adequate system resources before installing the screensaver.

Instructions

1. First download the encoded screensaver file for your operating system: OS 8 or 9 users, click here (biogemsinstallerOS89.hqx, 3.26 MB). OS X users, click here (biogemsinstallerOSX.hqx, 3.21 MB).
2. Locate the file that you downloaded (called biogemsinstallerOS89.hqx or biogemsinstallerOSX.hqx) and double click on it. If the file has an ".hqx" extension, you need to decode it using a freeware utility like StuffIt Expander. Installation is automatic. Once the screensaver is installed, a dialog box will appear. Click "ok" and the screensaver control panel will open. Check that the biogems2006 screensaver is selected and close the window. The BioGems screensaver is now your working screensaver.
3. To change screensavers, go to System Preferences and select Desktop and Screen Saver. To remove the screensaver from your computer, find and drag the biogemsinstaller and biogems2006 files to the Trash.
