NRDC sues to stop oil exploration in Cook Inlet beluga habitat

NRDC and our partners file a lawsuit challenging a permit issued by the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) that allows the Apache Alaska Corporation to explore for oil and gas in Alaska’s Cook Inlet using seismic airguns. The area is home to a dwindling population of just 312 endangered beluga whales, which are under great duress from the increasing industrialization of their habitat.
