Reprieve for America's most endangered grizzlies

A federal court rejected a plan to expand destructive road-building in the Cabinet-Yaak and Selkirk wildlands that span Montana, Idaho and Washington. Siding with NRDC and our partners, the judge ruled that the Forest Service relied on incomplete information in adopting a road management plan that could put the 45 or so endangered grizzly bears that survive in these national forest lands at even greater risk of extinction. The agency is now obligated to prepare a new study of the potential environmental impacts resulting from its roadbuilding scheme.
