Moratorium on commercial whaling is upheld

The International Whaling Commission (IWC) decides to postpone action on a controversial proposal that would have legalized the killing of whales for profit for the first time in a generation. The plan was vigorously opposed by NRDC and BioGems Defenders, who sent more than 94,000 messages of protest.
